Hie heavy concentration of so many troops in a small country at war created some real communications prQblems. Service is still not what we would like it to be but it has been improved over the past several years, said the telephone company manager.
Until 1967, servicemen could call home only from Saigon. Calls can now be placed from hospital and bases in Ton Son Nhut, Long Binh, Cam Rahn Bay, Nha Trang and Qui Nhon. After December 1, calls also can be made to the U.S. from Dan Nang.
However U.S. callers may still reach only telephones in Saigon and the immediate vicinity.
