Cannon’s Bull Tops
Two BC1A Sales
Angus bulls from the El Rancho Grande farm herd of Ray T. Cannon at Castleton topped both B.C.I.A. sales held in Virginia last week.
At the sale held in Culpeper, “Black Bardoliermere 16” tied for high bid at $3,000. This bull had an index score of 174, the highest of all breeds in the eleven year history of feed tests run at the Culpeper station. He was purchased by T. D. Steele of Roanoke.
“Kingdom’s Elevate 13” topped the sale at Dublin when a Dr. Smith of Pulaski bid $3,500 for two-thirds interest in him. Mr. Cannon reserved a third interest in order that the services of this bull might be available for his purebreds.
El Rancho Grande had five bulls on test this year at these stations. Four were sired by Mr. Cannon’s herd sire “Kingdom Elevate 223”. All weighed better than one thousand pounds at 365 days of age. This is a record unequalled by any sire ever represented in these performance testing programs. Washington Methodist Bake Sale April 6th
The women of the Washington Methodist Church will have a bake sale on Saturday, April 5 at the church from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. This will be the day before Easter and an excellent opportunity to purchase baked goods for the holidays. Anyone wishing to bake or donate is requested to have the baked goods at the church by 10 a.m.
