Auxiliary Elects
The Ladies Auxiliary to the Amissville Fire Department met Tuesday for its regular March meeting with seventeen members present. With election of officers the primary business a report from Mrs. Mary Priest, Chairman of the Nominating Committee was made. She recommended that her group advocated that the entire present slate of officers be returned to office. The motion was made, carried a second and an affirmative vote cast. Officers are Mrs. Russell Hackley, president; Mrs. Eddie R. Hitt, vice president; Mrs. Ralph Ro.vzie, secretary; Mrs. A. C. Latham, treasurer; Mrs. Paul Suter, chaplain; Miss Peggy Hitt, reporter.
The Auxiliary agreed to assist the fire company with a public dinner with proceeds to go toward purchasing equipment.
Expect Tax Refund?
File Prior to April 4
In a special plea to Virginia taxpayers today, IRS District Director James P. Boyle asked taxpayers expecting refund on their 1968 tax returns to file them before April 4.
Mr. Boyle explained that processing work in the Service Center is now at the lowest ebb in the filing period.
Refunds on correctly prepared returns filed now will be issued within five weeks. Refund returns filed later may become intermingled with the traditional last minute avalnche of returns and processing might be unavoidably delayed.
He emphasized that experience has shown that taxpayers who prepare their returns under pressure of the April 15 deadline are most prone to make omissions or errors on their returns. Errors further delay receipt of refunds.
Director Boyle closed by asking that all refund tax returns be mailed as soon as possible to the IRS Service Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19155. As he explained, "It’s not too late to file early!”
Place Orders Now for
Wildlife Planting
March is the month during which landowners should place orders for wildlife planting materials distributed by the Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries, reminds Game Division Chief R. H. Cross. Bags of annual game bird mixture, each sufficient to plant 1/8 acre, are available free to qualified landowners and to clubs and civic groups who can substantiate that tney have land available for planting. This year the materials are attractively packaged in clear plastic bags with a multi color illustration of game birds on the front.
The annual game bird mix consists of soy beans, cow peas, Korean lespedeza, German millet, brown-top millet, buckwheat, milo maize and rape.
