A man or woman, age 62 or older, who is “insured” under social security can receive benefits for any month in which he is not earning wages of over $140 and is not performing substantial services in self-employment. 3. A. No, he would not. All beneficiaries are allowed to earn $1680 in a taxable year, regardless of how much they earn in any month, and not have any social security payments withheld.

4. Q. If the mother of two young children becomes entitled to disability benefits would her children also be entitled to benefits, even if their father is supporting them?

A. Yes. If a mother becomes entitled to disability benefits based on her earnings record the children would also be entitled to child’s Benefit regardless of any other income the children might have.
