Two girls sustained slight injuries in a collision on Route 611 south of Amissville Saturday evening. Trooper W. C. Eckhard investigated the crash which involved Donna Story, 18, of Amissville in a 65 Ford and William Jerald Settle of Amissville operating a 65 Chevrolet.
According to the report filed by the officer, the two vehicles collided on a curve. Miss Story sustained a contusion of the upper lip and Dora Jane Mills of Rixeyville, a passenger with her, received lacerations and contusions of the face.
Damage to the 65 Ford which was owned by L. S. Story of Amissville was estimated at $900 and the Settle vehicle which was owned by William B. Settle of Coral Hills, Md. was damaged to the extent of $800. Charges Against Settle are pending.
Two other crashes occurred in the Sperryville area, one Tuesday night and another Wednesday morning, but details were not available at press time.
Selective Service Office Closed June 4-12
The Selective Service Office in Washington, Virginia will be closed June 4 through June 12 while the secretary is on leave. During this time, Mrs. Frank Spalding, Commissioner of Revenue, will register any person reaching the age of eighteen required to register.

Field Trip For Girl Scout* #380
Girl Scout Troop No. 380 will meet in front of Trinity Episcopal Church, Washington, Saturday morning, June 6 at 9 o’clock for the trip to Fredericksburg’s historical points of interest. Each person will need $3.00 for expenses.
Mrs. Leake Joins Courthouse Staff
Mrs. James Leake of Castleton has accepted the position of secretary for the offices of Sheriff Charles K. Estes and Commonwealth’s Attorney George H. Davis, Jr. She fills the position recently left vacant by the resignation of Mrs. C. B. Palmer, Washington, Va.
Mrs. Leake is the former Dorothy Reeve of Sperryville and has been employed with Martin Furniture Company in Culpeper.
Mrs. Palma* has accepted a position with the Virginia Alcoholic Control Board in Richmond and plans to move to that area the middle of June. She will assume her new duties July 1.
