Retired Teachers
District N Meeting
The members of District N Retired Teachers Association held a business and luncheon meeting on July 7 at the Quality Motel in Front Royal. Presiding was Mrs. Mary W. Collins who welcomed guests and introduced Mrs. Leslie Fox Keyser as the speaker.
Mrs. Keyser’s inspiring talk was followed by the business meeting which included a discussion of the Association’s constitution and by-laws. Some suggested revisions were considered and will be worked out by a committee then voted on at the fall meeting.
An item of importance under discussion was the organization of local associations and their relation to state groups of this kind. The combined efforts of these organizations make benefits available to all retired Virginia teachers. But for the work of these organizations, the increase in salary for retired teachers which becomes effective in August, would not be forthcoming.
Representatives from the counties of Frederick, Clarke, Fauquier, Prince William, Warren and Rappahannock were present. Miss Annie Miller Almond of Washington represented Rappahannock, and reported the meeting worthwhile and enjoyable.
