A parade is scheduled in Sperryville tonight in connection with the annual firemen’s carnival which opened last night. The carnival will continue through Saturday night and is being held at the carnival grounds located on Route 211 west of Sperryville.

The big parade starts at 7 p.m. and will include fire and rescue units and equipment, marching units and majorettes, plus numerous other entries usually seen in a parade.

A carnival queen will be crowned in a ceremony Friday night and the Saturday night feature will be the awarding of the grand prize, a 1970 Ford Maverick and other prizes which are a country ham, a ladderback chair and $10 in groceries. All booths and concession are featuring better than ever prizes land the midway has more rides than in previous years. Specialty of the food stand Thursday will be country fried
