On Dean's List
A total of 239 cadets of the Virginia Military Institute war# named to the Dean's List at tha end of the second semester.
To be eligible for tha academic honor, a cadet must have an average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for all subjects with no grade below 2.0. The graduating class had 86 named while 90 second classman (juniors) were among those selected. Also named were 35 third classmen and 28 fourth classmen (freshmen).
Among those named to the honor list is Cadet Douglas K. Baumgardner, of Washington, Va. A rising third classman, he was graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Alexandria. Cadet Baumgardner also was named an academically distinguished student, an honor achieved by attaining a 3.5 average on a 4.0 scale. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Baumgardner, of Route 1, Washington.
