Fall Meeting of
Local Cancer Unit
A large representative group attended the fall meeting of the Rappahannock Unit American Cancer Society held Monday evening at the Court House in Washington, Va. Outgoing president Ian Pryde officiated at his final meeting and thanked the group for its efforts and cooperation.
Mr. Pryde voiced opposition to the vast amount of duplicated information* sent out by the Virginia Division. He felt there was great waste of funds in duplicate and repetitious mailings. There was unanimous agreement from the group and Mrs. Virginia Schneider, Unit Executive Director, made a notation to pursue this with the Division.
Mrs. Roberta Anderson, Chairman of the 1970 Cancer Crusade in Rappahannock, made a final report on the Crusade which totaled $1,938.46. An additional $27.55 was turned in at the meeting and will be applied to the 1971 drive.
Mrs. Roberta Spaulding who is Memorial Gifts Chairman reported she had received $105 since the end of the crusade.
Mrs. James Massie, chapter treasurer, said a filing cabinet has bet*n purchased to hold unit materials and stationery has been ordered for the chapter's use.
Mrs. Schneider announced that the Rappahannock Unit was the first in District 9 to reach Its fund quota in the Crusade. She gave a brief explanation of two new projects, "Reach to Discovery" for mastectomy patients and "The l/ost Chord" for those having laryngeclomles
