RAPPAHANNOCK and Fauquier Polo Players have combined for the upcoming summer Polo season.
The Rappahannock Team — comprised of John Lyle, Jim Hourahan, and Glenn Hourahan, all of Washington — has been joined by Lt. Col. Jack Morris of the U.S. Air Force who is now on a tour of duty on President Nixon’s staff at the White House and is residing in the Virginia area.
The Warrenton players — Joe Claffy, John Gulick and Ed Johnson — have been joined by Col. Harry Wilson of the U.S. Army, who is considered the leading Polo instructor in the area.
This merger was necessary as this area has so few Polo players neither county could muster alone the necessary players and horses to compete in the local circuit during the upcoming season.
