THE LONG holiday week end was marred by two severe traffic crashes in Rappahannock County, one of which resulted in the first fatality here in this calendar year. Another minor crash was also reported.
Robert Lawrence Hicks, 24, of Mountain View Trailer Park, Culpeper, was killed in a single-vehicle crash about 4 a.m. Sunday. This occurred on Route 522 a mile west of Woodville when a car in which he was riding went off the right of the highway and struck a cement bridge abutment. Hicks was dead at the scene of multiple injuries.
