The same evening, April 28, a single-car crash occurred about 8:10 p.m. on Route 231, four miles south of Sperryville. A1964 Pontiac owned and operated by Richard Allen Weakley of Sperryville went out of control on a curve, ran off the right shoulder and struck a utility pole.
The vehicle was declared a total loss and the operator was cited for reckless driving by investigating Officer Buntin.
Two victims survived an unbelievable one-car crash Monday evening on Route 211 at Ben Venue. The 1966 Ford Mustang in which they were riding was demolished after it hurtled up the road, struck a tree and came to rest in the median 778 feet from the initial, trouble spot.
