Investigation indicated that the car, a 1965 Pontiac Tempest owned by Boyd Thomas Coffey, also of Culpeper, was driven by Coffey. He was taken to Culpeper Memorial Hospital by Sperryville Rescue Squad where he remains a patient with lacerations of the face and hands, a chest injury and a broken left arm.

Investigation by Trooper W.A. Buntin continues and charges are pending.

HICKS WAS married and had one small daughter. A funeral service was held Wednesday.
