A priceless Christmas gift which costs nothing and which will go to a stranger is the suggestion of R. Kenneth Hudgins, executive director of the Old Dominion Eye Bank.
“The marvelous gift of restored eyesight for someone now blind can be made with a stroke of the pen,” Hudgins said. “It can be done by signing a pledge card, offering to donate your eyes, on death, to be used in a sight-restoring corneal transplant operation.”
Hudgins said that not nearly enough human eye tissue is currently being made available through the donor program to take care of the eye bank’s need.
