Not only did he hold on, but, with the aid of subs Bobby Titchenell, William Jordan and regulars Steve Leake and Cliff Frye, pulled out to a seven-point lead by the end of the game. It is easy to overlook the rest of the team when an individual like Jordan is outstanding. The Elkton game was won by a team, not an individual.
Leake and Frye showed lots of poise in the fourth quarter. Frye moved in and controlled the boards in Jordan’s absence while adding twelve points to the effort. Leake continued his fine shooting by putting in eight points in the final quarter for a game total of 19. Russfell scored four, Smoot led 6 and Titchenell five points to round out the victory.
Tuesday’s game with Central High was not so successful. The Panthers fell to a very quick, hotshooting Falcon squad by a score of 92-60. Once again Jordan and Leake led the scoring with 19 and 26 points. The Panthers played a fine game until the half and then fell before a fine full court pres„s.
