RAPPAHANNOCK’S Board of Supervisors last Thursday prepared to join Planning District 9, to give the ,counties of Rappahannock, Fauquier, Madison, Culpeper and Orange an opportunity for regional planning and the federal funding contingent upon the formation of planning districts.

Chairman of the Rappahannock Board, Newbill Miller, put it bluntly:

“Fauquier County has a sewage project that it must have, and can’t get any federal assistance without the formation of the Planning District. This is a pointblank statement, I admit.”

Considerably frustrated, Miller recounted to the Board how the Town and County of Culpeper has repeatedly refused to join the District.

“The Town Manager of Culpeper is the man most opposed to it,” said Miller, who made a strong push for the formation of the district.
