Squad’s responsibility

There has been a question as to what is the extent and territory of a rescue squad, and where does each unit’s territory begin and end.
I have been connected with a rescue squad as an active member; have been Captain of the Washington Rescue Squad; taught First Aid to many members of our own squad and other squads in this county. There have been many times in our area and town that vye did not have a driver available or the ambulance was already out and we had to call on neighboring units for help. We have been called to other areas when their ambulances were not available.
After 32 years’ experience and active duty with first aid and rescue squad work, I feel it is our duty and responsibility as rescue squadsmen to go where ever we are called. I personally feel we have no designated area.
What are we supposed to do? Let the injured or ill person lie there and die because it is not our territory? No - I say go - and go at once.
