Ray T. Cannon of El Rancho Grande Farm, Castleton, has received the Get-of-Sire Award from the Virginia Beef Cattle Improvement Association for the third consecutive year. The award was presented at the Cattlemen Convention in Fredericksburg last Friday. To be eligible to win the award, there must be as many as four or more sons, sired by the same bull, on the 140-day performance test at the Virginia R.O.P. Bull Testing Stations, and have the highest average 365 day weight. The average weight this time was 1,035 pounds, and the winner was Kintyremere Oaks 13, a 1969 R.O.P. Angus bull tested at the Culpeper Station and purchased by Cannon from The Oaks Farm, Sperryville, which also has an interest in the sire.
