EVEN THOUGH there may still be more cold weather, numerous facilities at Shenandoah National Park will soon start opening for the forthcoming season.

Superintendent Robert R. Jacobsen reports that Loft Mountain and Matthews Arm campgrounds will open for the season on March 30; Lewis Mountain camp ground will open May 25. The Byrd Visitor Center at Big Meadows and the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center are currently open on weekends and will be open seven days each week, beginning April 14.

Evening programs will be given at the Byrd Visitor Center on Tuesdays through Saturdays, at 7:30 p.m., beginning April 17.

SUPT. Jacobsen reports that this year, for the first time, the Park will have an area for organized youth group camping. It is located at Dundo at Milepost 83.7.
