THAT’S THE SORT OF THING you can get into when you get involved with “regional” fanning. It takes constant vigilance on the part of local officials not to get caught up in grandiose “schemes” to transform the countryside into something new, urban and alien. Some measure of regional co-operation and give and take is not only inevitable, but desirable. The trick is not to let regionalism swallow up local desires.□
