ELIGIBLE PEOPLE with no other income at all will have a basic cash income of at least $130 h month for one person and $195 for a couple.
People in institutions or with other income may get reduced supplemental security income checks. “We do not need to see those people now getting State public assistance because they will automatically be changed over to the new Federal program in January,” Mrs. Crumpton said.
Federal supplemental security income payments will be made by the Social Security Administration but financed by Federal general tax revenues—not from social security taxes paid by workers and employers.
