Ray of ‘sunshine’
CHARLIE WADDELL was pretty good about wanting to keep closed door meetings to a minimum, when he was serving as a Loudoun County Supervisor, and now he is co-sponsor of a proposed “Government in the Sunshine” law for Virginia which, he says, would be a lot tougher on closeddoor meetings than the state’s existing Freedom of Information law.
His description of the law’s major provisions do, indeed, seem better than the loophole-ridden FOI statute now on the books, and we wish it success. We would merely suggest that even “delicate and sensitive personnel matters” be stricken from the reasons for public bodies closing their doors on the public. It’s been
