I am in favor of providing kindergarten education and state assistance for the localities which provide kindergartens but to impose this requirement in many localities will lead to difficulties in arranging a short I school day for kindergartens and in providing transportation for kindergarten pupils.
It seems to me that kindergartens should be optional with the localities. There has been a rapid increase in the last few years in kindergartens provided throughout the state without the state requirement.
