MANY Virginia passenger car owners, operating without month and year decals on their license plates, might find themselves standing in line again in March, unless they take action soon on the notices they have received to purchase the decals.
The plain license plates expire on March 31, and the Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles says that over 300,000 car owners have not responded to extension notices mailed to them.
When Virginia motorists, with licenses up for renewal last March and April, came in to buy the new multi-year licenses, they were issued plain blue-on-white plates, without year and month decals, and were given the option of selecting a convenient month for annual renewal in future years.
