RAPPAHANNOCK citizens might like to know what other nearby localities have done with their “sharing” funds.
Fauquier County has received $400,000 during two years of Revenue sharing. None of the funds have been spent yet, but they’ve been earmarked for payment on the school debt. The money, now in a trust fund, cannot be used to pay the interest on the debt for school operating costs, but it can be used to pay off the principal.
The town of Warrenton has received $183,723 from the Federal program. So far, only $12,947 has been spent, $12,769 to buy a back hoe and $177 to advertise that the town has received the funds.
