Some of the best icebox melons are Petite Sweet and Sugar Baby. These are not only fine for the home vegetable garden, they are also becoming popular for commercial production to supply watermelons of convenient size for the market.
If you plant watermelons, be sure to select varieties which are resistant to anthracnose and fusarium wilt diseases. If these diseases are not controlled, you may lose you entire crop.
Seedless watermelons are a unique and interesting development. They were produced first in Japan, but several good varieties ar6 now available in this country.
