A 1 A A --o-oof fun at day camp. Last week the long days of summer came alive for about 37 Rappahannock County youth at Camp Roundabout 4-H Day Camp. VPIand SU Extension Service of Rappahannock County sponsored an educational day camp program which provided many opportunities for exploring and having fun.
The day began with a flag-raising ceremony and lively songs and games. The morning activities included arts and crafts, songs and games, active games, nature walks and horsemanship. Afternoon happenings included swimming and special programs on Soil conservation, by David Poe; Bicycle Safety, by Trooper J.A. Watson; Forestry, by Evan Sharp; Energy Conservation, by Miss Lavetta Fraley; and First Aid, by Ian Pryde. Skits, Plays and Story Telling were also included in the afternoon fun.
VOLUNTEERS WORKING with day camp were Mrs. Violet Cooley, Mrs. Howard Holschuh, Mrs. Charles Albright, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bomberger, the Rev. Ron Wiley, the Rev. Jennings Hobson, Mrs. Paul St. Clair, Mrs. Pattie Alexander, Mrs. Louise Adkins, Mrs. Roberta Jenkins, and Miss Rebecca Wallace.
The support and co-operation of the Rappahannock County Extension Homemakers Clubs, the Rappahannock County Welfare Department, Mr. and Mrs. Ottie Ralls and the Metzinger family combined to make the project a success.□
