of Supervisors should bear in mind the very example which the General gave (unknowingly) — that unless the children of the county are educated they will be relegated to low paying labor jobs and when they become disabled in their middle years with a family to support they will have no choice but to apply for public assistance.
For my part, tax money is better spent on giving people basic skills and a chance for a choice of livelihoods than as subsidy for low farmhands.
