ATTENTION HORSE OWNERS—State Veterinarians will start enforcement of regulation for the control of Equine Infectious Anemia (E.I.A.) (Swap fever) in horses September 1, 1974. In brief the regulation states: All horses assembled at a show, fair, race meet, or other such function in Virginia must be accompanied by a report of an official negative test for equine infectious anemia conducted within twelve months prior to such event. All horses consigned to a sale or auction (except for slaughter) in Virginia must be accompanied by a report of an official negative test for E.I.A. within six months prior to such event.
