Girls team
victorious
THE Rappahannock girls softball team defeated the Aileen, Inc. team by a 3519 score last week. Betty Compton was pitcher and Mary Jordan catcher. Top hitter was Diane Freeman with two triples, two doubles and a single.
Sheila Bailey, Joyce Smoot, Mary Jordan and Betty Compton all hit triples. Other girls hitting safely were Faye Dunn, Patricia Mahoney, Missy Clanagan, Mary Hudson, Dorothy Foster, Patricia Pendleton, Marie Fletcher and Carolyn Dodson.
Outstanding hitter for Aileen was J. Airhart who also worked behind the plate. M. Smoot pitched:
The local team plays Warren Quality tonight, Thursday, at 7 p.m. Next week they will compete in tournament play. Their present league standing is fourth.□
