A DRAFT of a regional land use plan was presented as a “slide show” to Warrenton’s Planning Commissioners at their meeting September 16. Kenneth Oestreich, the new land planner for the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District Commission, thought Warrenton’s planners saw enough of maps and charts, so he showed slides of mountains, open fields, historic buildings, wildlife and cartoons, as well as maps and charts. Oestreich emphasized that the first land use plan for the five county planning district is at this stage just a draft; the district planning commissioners and local governments have another year to review it and add their comments before the final plan is approved.
