In girls competition, Dawn Keithley, a freshman, ran a fast second place mile to better her previous times to a 5:38.1. This is her first season in the mile distance, however, she was a short distance runner with the school’s J. V. last year.
Janice Aylor moved from 6th place in district competition to 3rd in the regionals this year in the 880 yard run. Her time of 2:39.9 set a new school record.
Eleanor Phillips placed second in the discuss throw, falling 3 feet short of the winning throw of 99 feet. Her best effort is 101 feet 7 1/2 inch, a school record. Jeanette Beebe placed third in the regionals discus competition with 95 feet. Both girls are freshmen and have an excellent chance of placing high in the state meet, according to their coach, Ann Spieker.
JAMELL PURDHAM, a standout among the girls all season, will compete in four events Saturday, the 100 yard dash, the 440, the high and long jumps. In the district she scored 34 points to claim the position of top individual scorer for the meet, and
