FIRE, RESCUE
The Washington Fire Company responded to a brush fire near Scrabble Wednesday, December 22.
The Sperryville Rescue Squad responded to a car accident at Peola Mills January 1 but services were not needed.
December 24 the Chester Gap Rescue Squad took Mrs. Alice Thorpe from Castleton to a Charlottesville hospital. On the 27th Mrs. Thorpe was taken from Culpeper Memorial Hospital to Charlottesville. George F. James of Washington was taken from Chester Gap to Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal by this unit on December 31. The Chester Gap squad took Willie B. Mills from home in Huntly to Warren Memorial Hospital on January 2.
The Chester Gap Fire Department responded to a chimney fire December 30 at the Charles Leake home. No damage resulted.
Flint Hill Rescue Squad, at the request of the Front Royal squad, transported Angela Burke from Front Royal to Charlottesville Monday.
Flint Hill Fire Company responded to a fire Wednesday morning at an abandoned house on Route 637. The fire was extinguished.
