glish ivy in your garden for fear your property will be consumed by some clinging monster, have heart. It is true that H. helix and its relatives can be vigorous, but all can be kept in check with a bit of snipping here and there during the summer months.
Not letting it get out of control in the first place is the best way to keep it in control at all times. Ivy can eventually cause deterioration of the mortar between bricks so use care when planning an ivy wall. Do not allow ivy to grow up a wood house as this will mean rot and ex* pense down the road. The best way to show ivy to is best advantage is as a ground cover, on a slope, under trees, or at the edge of the drive.

To The Almanack

The custom began much eariler when famers set bonfires to scare off witches threatening their homes and crops.
During those cold winter nights, why not leaf through those seed catalogues which are arriving about now? January is a good time for pencil pushing, planning the garden for the coming season.
Be especially careful adjusting your driving to the changing road conditions of winter. Carry emergency equipment with you, as well. Always let others know your destination and expected time of arrival.
