The society also houses some oral histories on tape and has slides of old houses and churches. There is also extensive information about the Shenandoah National Park, and a map from the Corps of Engineers. The map shows what families owned what land before the land was taken for the park.
Because Washington’s bicentennial will take place in December. 1996, the society is working on the history of the town. They have minutes from the tlrst board of trustees’ meeting (similar to the Town Council). Mrs. Knuepfer said they are trying to get together enough information to make a pamphlet.
