■ Rappahannock Nawi Stiff Writer ! Registration for the first youth wjrestling program in Rappahannock will be held this Saturday at the RCES gym at 10 a.m. - If someone is unable to attend in person, registration may be completed by calling Paul Paratore at 937-5182 or Jon Heddleston at 987-8137. The cdst is $25, which includes the premiu|n for league insurance. Both boys a£d girls are encouraged to register fqr the collegiate-style wrestling. 1 With financial help from several local sources, a used 42’ x 40’ mat was purchased from a university in Missouri. The cost was $4,900 but it would have been $7,300 new. The major contributors were the Robert M. Darby Foundation, Rappahannock Lions Club and the Rappahannock Athletic Boosters. The mat is stored at RCES and will be spread out on the fitoor of the gym there for practices to be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:00 to 11 a.m.

Mr. Paratore and Mr. Heddleston, the coaches and organizers of the wrestling team, are very excited about this new sport coming to Rappahannock. Their plan is to have a junior varsity wrestling team in 1996, and junior varsity and varsity squads in 1997.

Mr. Paratore was on the wrestling team in college, coached at Chantilly High School for six years, and is presently a physical education teacher at a middle school. Mr. Heddleston wfestled in high school and teaches English at RCHS.
