Wedding announcement
Sharon and Sean Kilpatrick are pleased to announce the marriage of their son Douglas to Ariya Niphatthanaphan on Tuesday. March 11. in Phuket, Thailand.
The wedding, in a traditional Buddhist ceremony, took place in Nai Yang Temple. Traveling to Thailand for the wedding, besides the couple, were his mother Sharon Kilpatrick of Sperryville. his father Sean Kilpatrick and step-mother Pat Miller of Atlanta, his sister Heather Kilpatrick, her husband Alex Lopez Cruz, and their 1 t/2-year-old son lan Lopez Kilpatrick of Denver, and his aunt and Sharon’s sister Lynn Smith of Silver Spring. Md.
Also present for the ceremony were the bride's father Nipon Niphatthanaphan. her sister Nitima “Bee“ Niphatthanaphan. her brother-in-law Watcharin “Ding” Ynmn and nieces Alis and Anis Yama. all of Phuket. Thailand, and her cousins Noi of Phuket and Klang of Los Angeles.
Following the wedding on Wednesday the contingent of Dougins. Ariya and Douglas’s family all went to Bangkok for a couple of days of sight-seeing and an opportunity to meet more of the bride’s family at a dinner hosted by the bride’s mother Wiboonpun Chuphatthanaphan.
The groom is a 1991 graduate of Rappahannock County High School and a 1996 graduate of Clarkson University in Potsdam. N.Y., with a degree in computer science. He is employed by Verisign in the Dulles area.
The bride is a graduate ofThammasat University in Bangkok with a degree in social work and a master’s degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Wash., in marriage and family therapy. She has lived in the United States for six years.
The couple lives in Sterling. They are planning a wedding trip to Europe.
