The state allows schools to count instructional time over anti above the 990-hour minimum toward days missed because of snow.
"We have over l, 100 hours tn our instructional schedule each veor to facilitate a strong instructional and renuHtud program.” Chappell said. "Not counting the time missed due to inclement weather, we still touch mure hours than the state minimum. Therefore, we are using the stateapproved makeup process instead of usmg the two duys during spring break tor makeup— Marc h ‘27 and 28.”

Question: Do Rappahunnock County public schools have big surpluses? W*hen you look at the budget, it appears that the schools hud a budget surplus of about $161,000 tor each of the last two years.
Answer: A total of $1511184.69 in budgeted revenues were not received in the 2006-2007 school year. School officials are care till to not spend budgeted funds that are not received. The school board had $9,069.50 of “surplus'* to nils that were unspent at the end of 200607. which effectively were turned back to the county.
