driveways are the norm in Rappahannock County. What can you do either through maintenance or in new construction to prevent erosion and/or the release of tons of gravel into our rivers and streams.
• Do you have an old septic system or an outhouse within 300 yds. of a stream? Learn about the cost-sharing grant program that may reimburse you for 75 percent, up to $3000, for upgrading an old system, or building a new septic field. Evan Blumenstein will be on hand to answer your questions.
• A walking trail is being developed along the Thornton River which, thanks to the generosity of Cliff and Lucile Miller, will be open to the public.
• Learn how a group of volunteers are engaged in monitoring water quality. In addition to supporting the goal of CLEAN WATER and biodiversity, the rivers and waterways are a source of fun and recreation. Come chat with fly fishing experts.
• At least 12 community members have submitted their favorite photos of rivers and streams that have been hung in the reception room. If you want to include your photo in the contest, bring an 8x10 prior to 10 a.m. to have it as part of the contest. Attendees will be given five colored tokens with which they can vote for their favorite in five categories.
• Children up to 15years-old are invited to work on a large painting under the guidance of Kate BrownWing. Children will use their observational skills and experiences of the day to create images that reflect the lessons and activities of the day. Children of all ages are invited to illuminate
