Water Stations sponsored by Rappahannock National Bank and Rose Hill Veterinary Clinic will be passing out water (or water to those passing out), and the Rescue Squad will be perched on Lees Hill tor the mint of heart, short of breath and imminent of death. Don’t worry, you’ll be on the home stretch then, and its (almost) all downhill from there. A Deputy (don’t argue, he’s armed also) will turn you left in Washington, and you’ll go right to the Courthouse on Gay Street and a big finish where the spectators will cheer you rapturously.
Since its inaugural run. the Fodderstack has become a high point in the local calendar of events. Both longtime local runners, Rappahannock wannabes and the occasional dedicated runner (they sneak in; so sue us, on top of everything else, we’re not very observant) travel to Rappahannock tor what is often the first great day of Spring. We must add that there has been only two rainy Fodderstack Races in the last seventeen years (not that we’re claiming Divine Favor, or anything).
Bus service begins from Washington to Flint Hill at approximately 8:00 a.m. Registration in Flint Hill at the Volunteer Fire Hall starts at 8:15 a.m. and runs until 9:30 a.m. in time for the Race’s start at 10:00 a.m. Pre-registration (postmarked by April 14 to PO Box 124, Flint Hill, VA 22827) is $20.00, und is $25.00 the day of the race.
