$4500 In scholarships
The Rappahannock County Garden Chib put in hours of backbreaking wore at their Holiday Greens Workshop last December in order to accumulate enough funds to provide college scholarships to Rappahannock County high school seniors. Three scholarships are now available. The Community College Scholarship will provide $1000 for the first semester and $1000 for the second semester to a student who plans to attend a community college. The Francis J. Leonard Scholarship will be offered to a senior who wants to continue his or her education in a four-year college; $1000 will be awarded in the first year and $500 upon successful completion of the first year. The Mary Marocchi Scholarship will be granted in the amount of $1000 to a graduating high school senior who intends to pursue a career in nursing or a related subject.
To receive these scholarships, the recipients must be residents of Rappahannock County, members of the 2008 graduating class, be accepted at an accredited college, have a need for financial assistance, and be recommended by two adults who are not related to the
