Squandering strong pitching performances is something that Rappahannock County head baseball coach Jeff Jenkins dislikes.
And Monday night’s was no exception.
“It’s hard. Your pitcher gives up just two runs in the game,” Jenkins said after Stonewall Jackson-Quicksburg handed the Panthers a 2-0 defeat. “We had some scoring opportunities, but things just didn’t come through for us.”
The loss dropped Rappahannock County to 3-4 overall this spring. But Jenkins said that start is very deceiving.
“We could be 5-2 right now. That’s wha£ *1 told my players,” he added.
Senior left-hander Jonathan Butler allowed Stonewall Jackson just four hits in his complete game performance; He struck out eight.
Travis Jenkins had two of Rappahannock County’s three hits. Taylor Yowell had the other.
The Panthers only struck out twice as a team.
