I made time to go outside and gaze at the constellations in the night sky and wait in silence for shooting stars to streak by. If the weather kept me from going outside, I would stand in the bathtub, elbows on the window sill and chin in hands, looking for the string of stars that make up Orion’s belt. I used to know the songs of all the birds and I could identify just about every wildflower that grows between here and Garrett County, Maryland. But then I got busy.
