ing tests and cleaning of hearing aids, and recently they had shoe fittings for diabetics to prevent sores from developing on their feet.
Once a week there are stretching exercises led by Lilo, a volunteer who is also a gifted and active yoga instructor.
Wednesdays they exercise at the Rappahannock County High School work* out room. Other days they have crafts (such as soap making), music, games and other varied activities. Recently they had a milk, shake party, thanks to Jean Lillard. a generous volunteer.
Each month they er\joy several trips including bowling. fishing, picnicking, shopping at the Book Barn, going out for ice cream or breakfast or lunch at a neighboring church or restaurant. At times, a small fee per person is requested to defray costs but no one is denied a trip for lack of funds.
The materials for the crafts, the supplemental amount needed for trips, party supplies and the cost of the gasoline and driver for any trips made out of the county must all be raised through the contributions from the general public. This is why the seniors are asking that you join them for breakfast and hear first hand how much the senior center contributes to their quality of life.
If you cannot attend on Sept. 20, donations may be made to the Rappahannock Senior Center.
