The rain held off Saturday hut it was still hot for the twelfth annual Rappahannock RoughRide. a cycling event which benefits the Rappahannock and Fauquier Free Clinics.
There were 210 riders ready to get started on their course on Gay Street in hunt of the courthouse at 10 a.m.
RoughRiders could go their own pace cycling over the beautiful Rappahannock countryside.
Courses ranged from 12, 35 and 60 miles over paved roads to a 20 or 30 mile paved and unpaved course.
Participants were required to wear helmets and those under the age of 13 had to be accompanied by an adult if parents were not present.
Diane Bruce, clerk of the Circuit Court, showed up on her bike (without a helmet) to check out what was going on. Maybe next year Diane will witer the race.
