Epicurious Cow, the Ben Venue market and cafe better known as ECow, is closing Dec. 31 - the victim of both a downward economic curve and. ironically, an upward healthy-food-buying curve. '

When it opened in 2001 in the former auto shop on the Eastham farm at U S. 211 and Route 729, ECow was ahead of the food curve - offering fresh and significantly local produce and carefully chosen meats, fish, cheese, wines and a large selection of organic goods, in addition to burritos and grilled lunches that were creative and not expensive.
