Fire-Fighters of W.H.S. A meeting for the purpose of organizing a fire-fighting squad of boys of W.H.S. was held Friday,.; November 1>8, in the office of Mr. Link. Mr. Johnson told the boys two qualifications to join th»'s group. First, the boy must be 15 yearh of age, and second, be must have the permission of.his parents. * The school squad was divided into crews led by appointed lead* ers: Frank Goode from Flint Hill, Charles Scroggins, Washington, and-George Lawrence, Amissville. This organization is worthy of much praise. We are thankful that we have this opportunity to learn something about fighting fires.

New* ^ (By Shirley Woodard) The following boys from Washington chapter made up our forestry judging team last Saturday in the Northern Triangle Federation judging contest held at Front . iRoyal, and placed third. (1) Garfield ‘Burke. (2) Irvin Corbin. <3) Charles Brown. There were seven teams competing in this event. s Our baby chicks are coming along nicely. An electric brooder is being used and accurate records are being kept on the feed, labor, etc., each week. We hope to have them weighing four pounds before Christmas. At six weeks old they weigh 114 pounds each. If there is anyone that, can beat this, we would like to hear ; from them. If Billy Putnam could play ball like he can sell vanilla, he would be “red hot.” —*--*----:_ of these feast days can compare with , ours. Think of a Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, that_ fine old American bird, and what, other country has something to take the place of that wonderful pumpkin pie! Thanksgiving Day is a day of big family dinners and festive entertainments, .but beyond this it is a day of giving THANKS.
