Develops'Engine Trouble
Monday, around 4 o’clcok, the spray airplane, piloted by Cecil Carthy, made a forced landing in the field of Bossy Williams while the cornfields of Flip Chaddell at the Black Rock Valley near Chester? Gap were being sprayed.
The spraying aparatus was dantw aged but the pilot escaped unhurt. Mr.. Hughs, of the Cavalier Avia* tion Co., Richmond, made an investigation of the accident Tueaday and stated the plane developed engine trouble, causing the forced landing, and it will have to be trucked back to Richmond■Cornfields
in the vicinit of Flint Hill and Washington were sprayed this week by the airplane spray method with DDT to kill the Japanese beetles in the corn. It is estimated that |0O; to 400 acres of coni war* sprayed bf. this method. -
