Are livestock on dicta lacking in minor elements more likely to suffer from internal parasites?
Dr. W, L. Threlkeld, associate soologist at the Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station, believes it might be so, and is conducting studies to discover the relationship between minor element deficiencies and the likelihood of parasite infestations.
He explains that research done in England, New Zealand, and some places in the United States, has shown the need of cobalt in the daily diet of sheep and calves. The importance of some of the finor elements in the diet of animals is not completely understood.
