1951 Whftftt Allotment
Announced for Rapp'k
Rappahannock county fanners may plant 2047 acres of wheat this fall for the 1951 crop, it was announced this week by H. S. Barksdale, PMA county committee chairman.
That acreage allotment is about the same as the county had fot this year’s crop and la based on recent wheat production history.
The county allotment is apportioned among farms within the county on the basis of tillable areas, crop-rotation practicesr type of soil, and topography. Thh chairman emphasized that the allotments seek to give each wheat farmer a chance to grow his fair share of the needed production. A. small part of the county allotment is available for apportionment to farms on which wheat was not planted during the past three years. -
Notices of individual farm allotments for the 1951 wheat crop will be sent to growers throughout the county, Mr. Barksdale said, and any questions regarding the program should be taken up with the County PMA Committee at the earliest opportunity.
Mr. Barksdale urged growers to seed within their wheat allotments in order to be eligible for 1951 wheat price supports.
